Print & Paste Pools & Wells

We're heading back into the dungeon in this next video - as I figured that it was time that I made a good old fashioned dungeon well :)

-some of the prototype work-

But in addition to the well, I've also included a small pool or bath (like you can see below), as well as trying out something new that works rather well as rope at this scale.

Anyway, you can pick up the (pay-what-you-want) pdf file from DriveThruRPG, and you can see how I put everything together in the following video:

So, here's hoping you like them!

Latest VTT Map Tile

Just a quick post to show off the latest (VTT) map that I've recently finished...

...and the idea for this one came from one of my patrons (who requested a rickety rope bridge with missing slats).

Anyway, while drawing this one I figured that I could make the bridge crossing a little more 'interesting' if there was a higher ledge (i.e. the one over on the right hand side) where lookouts or guards could harass the PC's (with missile fire or similar) while they were making the treacherous crossing :)

So yeah, I'm quite pleased with how this one's turned out ...and just for a bit of fun, here's a quick cave map that I've put together from various other tiles that I've been working on this year...

...so that you can get a better idea of the kind of thing that you can make by piecing a few of these map tiles together :)

Anyway, that's it for this post, I hope to get the next Print & Paste video (and pdf) out next week if I can, so keep an eye out for that!

NOTE: did you know that you don't have to be a patron to get your hands on these tiles. Just head on over to my Patreon home page, and you'll find links to all the various album/folders there.

Print & Paste Stasis Chambers

This one's taken a while to get finished, as I've been pretty ill this month (and ended up having to stay in hospital for a while) - so I'm a bit behind with everything.

But enough of that nonsense - at the start of August I started making a few prototypes for some kind of stasis chamber or hypersleep/cryo pod (i.e. the kind of thing where astronauts are put into suspended animation for a long journey through space)...

-from prototype to final design-

...and I've recently released the finished pdf HERE, and uploaded the instructions video to YouTube (see below).

And, just like all of the other products in the Print & Paste range, it's a 'pay-what-you-want' download over on DriveThruRPG - so pick it up for free* or pay as much/little as you like!

Anyway, here's hoping you like them!

*though any donations, no matter how small, really do help :)

Making a Cursed Dagger Prop from a Cheap Toy

During Halloween, a lot of the cheap/bargain type shops stock things that can be of use in our games (giant spider models being a favorite of mine) - but last year I picked up this plastic dagger for 1 or 2 pounds (I can't remember exactly how much, or where I got it from - it might have been from Wilko's).

Anyway, straight off the shelf it doesn't look very good at all, but I thought I could probably use this as a prop for a cursed/evil magical item at some point - and so I recently had a go at making it look a little less crappy :)

So, in the above picture, all I've done is sprayed it black (after priming it grey), and then while the black paint was still wet, I also dusted it with some silver (all three spray cans were from poundland - and I've always got a bunch of them lying around :) ).

Next, I applied a home made wash (made with equal parts black & brown craft paint, a lot of water, and a squirt of dishwasher 'rinse aid'), and once that had dried, I gave it a heavy drybrush with some cheap metallic paint from poundland (and to be honest that's all it's good for). And, as you can see, I also wrapped some garden twine around the handle (smearing it with PVA glue to make sure it stays in place).

Then I applied some of the same wash to the twine (to darken it up a little), and added some rust by first dabbing on some brown paint with a bit of torn up sponge, and then doing the same thing with some orange paint.

And that's pretty much all there is to it!

It still doesn't look great ...but it's a lot better than what it was :)

Let's Draw a Dungeon Map (FINISHED)

If you've been following me on social media, or watching some of my videos on youtube, you'll be aware of the fact that I've been drawing a dungeon map, room by room, based on the suggestions and ideas of others.

Basically it went something like this.
  • I created a starting area on the map.
  • I asked people to provide a description of any of the adjoining rooms.
  • I selected a few of those ideas (combining several suggestions whenever possible).
  • I drew in the new areas, and posted a picture of the updated map.
  • I then repeated the process for the new rooms...
...and this is how it turned out:

So, if you want to download a pdf copy of this map (along with all the descriptions) you can find it on google drive HERE.

And if you want an unlabelled copy of the map (for use with a VTT for example), you can find it HERE.

Anyway, here's hoping you'll be able to get some use out of it!

Print & Paste Dungeon Terrain : Fireplace

Just a quick post to say that I've expanded the print & paste range (again ;) ) ...and it now includes a basic fireplace.

As always, you can pick it up from DriveThruRPG as a pay-what-you-want pdf  - so grab it for free, or pay a small amount if you feel so inclined (though all donations, no matter how small, really do help).

And here it is pictured alongside some of my other stuff...

...and, I have to admit, I think it turned out quite nice :)

Let's Draw a Dungeon Map!

I thought it might be interesting if we had a go at drawing a dungeon map together - i.e. you make the room suggestions, and I'll have a go at drawing some of them.

However, in order to keep all the suggestions centralised (and to keep me sane ;) ), post any ideas you might have on the youtube page itself.

A few other things to keep in mind:
  1. Keep your suggestions to a sentence or two at most (like the starting areas that I've provided), and try not to be too random with your ideas (i.e. let's try to make something that kinda makes sense - something that we can actually use).
  2. Bonus points if you describe something that we can build with some of the 'Print & Paste' terrain that we've making these past couple of years.
  3. You'll have several days to get your ideas in, and I'll then close the comments while I work on some of the suggestions (possibly those with the most likes - so try to keep to one idea per post).

I'll then upload a new video with the updated map, and we'll start the process again for the next batch of rooms :)
