Print & Paste Terrain : Decorative Walls

Back in episode 30 of my youtube series, I introduced a way of making multi-level rooms and passages with a handful of new textures ...as seen below.

Well, in my latest video, I've included a bunch of new wall textures that can be used in a very similar way (just to add a bit more variety)...

But, as you can see in the video, you don't have to use them to make the aforementioned 'multi-level rooms' - as they're just as useful for making little stand alone pieces...

...as well as adding actual walls to some of the tiles (perhaps to add that extra level of detail for a particular encounter or end of level boss fight).

Anyway, as always you can pick up the pdf file from DriveThruRPG (it's a pay-what-you-want download - so pay as much/little as you like :) ).

  1. I am loving your ideas here! I just started down the crafter rabbit hole over the last few weeks as I recover from a surgery and have a lot of time on my hands.

One question coming from some one very new to anything artistic, what do you use to make those texture sheets? I'm not sure what program would be the go to for this at all, but I have ideas and time on my hands.

    1. Welcome to the crafting side of the hobby :)

I draw most of this stuff (from scratch) in photoshop ...though I do sometimes draw out the basic shapes in inkscape first (like the outline of the slab pattern for example).

Here's a very brief gif that shows some of the stages:

  3. Hey Kris, any chance in getting wooden wall variations in a future video. Variations in wood, stucco, cladding, etc. I’m currently building a few pieces for the standard adventure start...’Ok, you’re in a tavern and the dwarf at the bar is giving you the evil eye..... what do you do” 😋

Love your stuff and have just started putting a few pieces together. Thanks for supporting the community.

    1. Yeah, it's on the to-do list ...but I'm gonna try and come up with a method of adding in removable doors/windows/etc. as well.

Not sure when I'll get around to it though.

  4. Ok, cool! thanks. In the mean time, I’m using the wood textures from the Shelves & Cupboards pdf. I only needed it 3/4” high to cover the walls for the full 2.5d effect. 😁👍
